Thermal-Flex Multitrace constant wattage heating cables are designed to deliver uniform power output. Our cables are constructed of two parallel stranded, plated, copper buss wires with spiral-wound zones of nickel chromium heating wire. Alternating buss contact at designated intervals forms a link of parallel zones of equal resistance producing constant power output in each zone.
Constant wattage heating cables are designed to provide freeze protection or viscosity maintenance for piping, valves, pumps, tanks, and vessels, as well as freezer floors and foundations. Constant wattage heating cables are also commonly used to avoid freezing of drain lines and air conditioning lines located in most industrial environments. Constant wattage heating cables are essential to the frost protection and deicing of electrified power rails for most railroad transit companies and other types of people mover systems in cold northern climates.
Multitrace M-T-TPE heating cable is designed for low temperature applications including freezers and animal pen enclosures. Approvals: Factory Mutual Class I, Division 2, Groups B,C,D; Class II, Division 2, Groups E,F,G; and Class III, Division 2. (when sheath is applied)
Multitrace M-T-FEP heating cable is the most commonly used cable where higher wattage is required. Approvals: Factory Mutual Class I, Division 2, Groups B,C,D; Class II, Division 2, Groups E,F,G; and Class III, Division 2 (when sheath is applied).
Multitrace M-T-PFA heating cable is used predominantly where high exposure temperatures can be present. Because of the extremely high temperature capabilities of the insulation, this cable can be manufactured with higher wattage ratings than the other parallel resistant type heaters. Approvals: Class I, Groups B,C and D Division 2 Classified areas as well as in corrosive environments.
